Step 03: Next, apply Formula B to the regrowth. Your aim is to achieve a pale yellow rinse.​

Step 04: Shampoo with NaturalTech Nourishing shampoo.​

Step 05: Resection the hair into the original wave.​

Step 06: In the second wave section, apply Formula C to the mid-lengths and ends of the hair, and Formula D to the regrowth, using foil to isolate.​

Step 07: Use the applicator bottle to apply Formula E to the hair between the occipital and the nape, from regrowth to ends.​

Step 08: Apply Formula E to the sections of hair previously lightened with Formula A, using the Davines Applicator bottle for faster application.​

Step 09: After 20 minutes development time, emulsify and rinse with NaturalTech Nourishing Shampoo and condition with NaturalTech Tailoring Moisture Base and NaturalTech Tailoring Illuminating Booster.

Throughout the cutting process, use Essential Haircare DEDE Hair Mist to maintain an neven moisture and maximise cutting control.​

Step 01: Divide the hair in a horseshoe section incorporating the crown. Then, beginning with a vertical section above the ear, create a square line with a razor. Continue this technique with a travelling guide through to the front hairline.​

Step 02: Repeat step 01 on both sides, checking the balance as you work. Then, using a travelling guide once more, continue through to the back of the head, maintaining the cutting angle.​

Step 03: Explore leaving longer lengths through the perimeter, blending and refining these using the razor in a horizontal position.​

Step 04: Release the top section of the hair and layer it using parallel sections and a travelling guide, and cross checking using the horizontal sections.​

Step 05: Using a razor, connect the top and sides using vertical sections, leaving a slight disconnection to blend later.​

Step 06: Apply Essential Haircare LOVE Hair Smoother to reduce volume and add definition and control, then wrap dry the hair, respecting its natural fall.​

Step 07: Work through the haircut using a combination of sliving and deep vertical point cutting to remove weight and add texture.​

Step 08: Slice into the fringe area to shatter the shape and open up the bone structure.​

Step 09: Work through the sides to remove weight and blend the disconnection before assessing and refining the perimeter length.​

Step 10: Use a wide tooth comb and More Inside Shimmering Mist to separate out the fringe and give the look overall reflection and shine.​

This look works with diagonal sections of hair, which should be 1.5 inches thick. Use cheekbones as a guide point for freehand painting and always over-direct to the first point around the first section painted. Use the Davines Colour Blending Brush to create a seamless colour transition and aluminium foils to isolate.

Step 01: Creating over-direction and shape with Formula A​

-Take a diagonal section from the hairline to the back of the ear.​

-Using the cheekbone as a guide, apply Formula A to the first section and blend down using a Davines Colour Blending Brush to create a seamless transition between the base colour and Formula A.​

-Continue working with diagonal sections through the hair until you reach the back, always over-directing the hair to the first section. This will create a drop-down effect at the back.​

-Repeat these first three steps for all sections on this side of the head, making sure the hair is fully saturated at the ends.​

Step 02: Framing the front of the face with Formula A​

-Take thin sections of hair near the hairline on the opposite side to where you were working before. ​

-Apply a small amount of Formula A to these sections, leaving some of the base colour for a subtle regrowth effect and making sure the hair is fully saturated at the ends.​

-Let the Formula A develop until the hair reaches a pale-yellow shade, then rinse and shampoo with NaturalTech Replumping Shampoo.​

Step 03: Finishing the colour with Formulas B and C​

-Apply Formula B to the base colour and Formula C to the pre-lightened sections of the hair.​

-Leave this to develop for 20 minutes then emulsify, rinse and shampoo with NaturalTech Replumping Shampoo.​

-Finally, apply a mix of the NaturalTech Tailoring Radiance Base and NaturalTech Tailoring Illuminating Booster, combing through and then rinsing.

Throughout the cutting and styling process, stay connected to the look you are creating, using your hands to feel how the hair is guiding you as much as you guide it. Use Essential Haircare DEDE Hair Mist to maintain the hair’s moisture and bring out its personality, adding texture as you go to ensure the cut evolves into interesting shapes.​

Step 01: Apply Essential Haircare MOMO Hair Potion for weightless movement and More Inside Primer for hold and body, then finger dry the hair, taking into account the variations in density and hair growth patterns.​

Step 02: Section the hair into four quadrants behind the ear and take a diagonal section, incorporating the front hairline. Begin cutting the perimeter to the desired length using the point cutting technique.​

Step 03: After the first perimeter line has been cut, move to the front. Beginning on the side with the shorter shape, take a triangular section and point in your desired length.​

Step 04: Continue in diagonal sections, working down through the front hairline.​

Step 05: Now work up the side of the head in horizontal sections, connecting the perimeter line. When the base line has been cut, use a vertical slicing technique to add texture to the hair.​

Step 06: Channel the cut through the front, refining the outline.​

Step 07: Repeat the same technique on the opposite side, leaving the front shape longer to achieve balance rather than symmetry.​

Step 08: Beginning at the nape of the neck, work up the back of the head, continuing the perimeter line and using the same vertical point cutting technique.​

Step 09: Assess the shape of the cut and work instinctively with the razor and scissors to remove weight and texture, refining not only the final cut but the shapes it will grow into.​

Step 10: Add More Inside Primer to give the look body and shine, then use your hands to hold the haircut into shape to prepare for a natural dry. When dry, use More Inside Dry Texturizer to add body with a matt finish.

When creating this look, avoid ending up with a reverse dip-dye effect, leave out different sized sections of regrowth as you apply the formulas. This means some sections will have more regrowth than others, creating natural variation and an altogether more blended look.​

Step 01: Working with hair that is evenly damp but not soaking, divide the hair into four sections like teardrops. Use clips to hold these sections apart as you work.​

Step 02: Starting at one of the sections at the back of the head, apply Formula A to the regrowth area, bringing it down by about 2cm (0.75 inch) from the regrowth.​

Step 03: Apply Formula B to the ends of the hair, using the Davines Colour Blending Brush at the mid-lengths to create a smooth transition between the two formulas.​

Step 04: Repeat steps 2 and 3 on each of the remaining hair sections, adjusting the amount of formula, applying less Formula A on the regrowth and more Formula B on the ends.

Step 05: Repeat the entire process on the front section of the hair on the opposite side of the head. This will ensure both sides are consistent and well-blended.​

Step 06: Develop the formulas for 20 minutes then emulsify, rinse, shampoo with Heart of Glass Silkening Shampoo and condition with Heart of Glass Rich Conditioner.

Before you begin, assess the natural fall and texture of the hair, taking account of the shape of your client’s jaw and neck before making a decision on the length and angle of the back. As you cut, add texture to the ends of the hair by using the razor in a vertical position, and remember to remoisturise in between using Essential DEDE Hair Mist, for maximum cutting control.​

Step 01: Separate the hair into four quadrants behind the ear.​

Step 02: Take a 2 inch curved section through the front hairline on both sides then, using a razor at a horizontal angle, cut a perimeter line to the desired length, focusing on accentuating the bone structure.​

Step 03: Release the large section of remaining hair and comb into its natural fall, removing the partying and connecting it to the perimeter length using the same techniques.​

Step 04: Create a horseshoe section from the recession area to just behind the ear. Elevate the hair straight up from the head and slice beneath your fingers, using the interior 2cm of the blade to create a natural line running from short to long, away from the face.​

Step 05: Beginning at the nape of the neck, create diagonal sections and continue with the razor in a vertical line, travelling from shorter internally to longer externally.​

Step 06: Once you reach the occipital, begin to create a square laying textile with the razor to flatten the shape while maintaining length.​

Step 07: Elevate the remaining hair above the crown as with the horseshoe earlier, continuing the angle from short to long by cutting underneath the fingers. Repeat on both sides.​

Step 08: Drop the remaining hair and connect any overhanging lengths to the previous perimeter line. In this case, scissors were used to cut a blunt line.​

Step 09: Apply More Inside Primer through the mid-lengths and ends of the hair then shake out and tease with your hands to activate the style’s natural movement. For a natural curl, diffuse dry on a low speed and a high heat.​

Step 10: When the hair is 100% dry, use More Inside Dry Wax Finishing Spray throughout for texture and light hold, then define the ends using More Inside Invisible Serum, adding shine.
