    The
    beautiful
    and
    the
    good

More than 20 years ago, Essential Haircare was born from the philosophical idea that the true greatness of human beings lies in the harmony between ethics and aesthetics. As Plato said,

“What is beautiful is so only if it is also good, and what is good can only be beautiful.”

With the same spirit, we have chosen to offer a kind of beauty that is also good and fair for the world, through tireless scientific research that pursues optimal results for your hair with ever-increasing sustainability.

    Even
    more
    essential
    than
    ever

Wherever possible, we’ve removed what is unnecessary and introduced new naturally derived ingredients and high-performance biopolymers. Products now feature an average of:

    • 93%2 ingredients of natural origin

    • 92%3 biodegradability

    2ISO: 16128.

3Calculated as the sum of readily biodegradable ingredients according to the OECD 301 method.

    Why
    Regenerative
    Organic
    Agriculture?

Regenerative organic agriculture presents a pathway to reverse the damage done by conventional farming. Choosing Regenerative Organic CertifiedTM active ingredients4 represents our commitment to moving beyond protection to regenerating soil health and biodiversity.

    Low-impact
    packaging

Conceived following eco design principles, Essential Haircare’s packing follows the approach towards circularity defined in our sustainability strategy, and now uses fewer materials:

    • A new 1L bottle with a reduced neck that uses 14% less plastic compared to the previous bottle

    • A 2L refill pouch for shampoo and conditioner that uses 76% less plastic compared to 2 new 1L bottles.

    • New paper-based materials composed of 80% renewable-sourced content for our sachets, using 70% less plastic and 63% less aluminium compared to the previous version

We’ve also introduced new ISCC certified Bio-Circular Mass-Balance plastic, which uses sustainable industrial biological waste - like used cooking oil - to help lower CO₂ emissions.

    What is bio-circular mass-balance plastic?
Bio-circular mass balance plastic is plastic linked, via the ISCC PLUS mass balance approach, to renewable feedstock derived from biological waste, such as used cooking oil. Under this system, bio-circular and virgin feedstocks are physically mixed, but the share of bio-circular material is allocated on a bookkeeping basis and tracked through a certified and transparent chain of custody.
