REFLECTION
When we mistreat our environment, whether it is immediate like our bodies and homes or a wider environment like society or the planet, that behavior will undoubtedly be reflected back at us.
We never need to look too far to see the decisions we have made in the past.
Davines’ commitment to sustainable and regenerative practices led me to think deeper on this, resulting in a hair story which reflects more than hair, the idea that nature will inevitably be the one holding the mirror up to us.
Andrea Meyer Ludowisy, Research Librarian at the Institute of Languages, Cultures, and Societies at the University of London, brings a unique editorial vision to the magazine, weaving stories that inspire new ways of thinking about beauty and responsibility.
“Hairstyles over the ages have reflected spiritual beliefs, personal tastes, and social and historical events. But among the many functions, some remain constant: our intention to secure good luck, attract a partner, show our compliance with cultural mores, or show non-conformity. Hair denotes group membership, and certain hairstyles indicate age, a certain stage of life, and often also a state of health.”
