      Essential
      Haircare:
      a
      journey
      of
      sustainability

The evolution of the iconic Essential Haircare line has been one of our most important moves in our recent history. A symbol of our commitment to pursuing the never-ending goal of increasing sustainability while pushing the boundaries of exceptional professional haircare results.

      A
      journey
      that
      started
      in
      2004

It has been more than 20 years since we first introduced Essential Haircare to the world. Since then, there have been a number of innovations that have helped us to make the range more sustainable and effective.

From the introduction of new formulations featuring active ingredients from Slow Food Presidia in 2014, to bio-based plastic bottles in 2014 and solid shampoo formats in 2020, each step has been a renewal of our ongoing efforts to attain greater levels of sustainability.

      Regenerative
      Organic
      Agriculture

In the past, our focus has been on preserving and protecting the biodiversity of our natural environment. Since 2014, we have partnered with Slow Food to source active ingredients for the Essential Haircare range from Slow Food Presidia.

Today, we are taking that commitment a step further with a more holistic perspective that now includes regeneration. That’s why each of the families in the evolved Essential Haircare line features a Regenerative Organic CertifiedTM active ingredient2.

Because we understand that it is not enough to maintain the status quo - we need to work to repair the negative effects that human activity has had on the environment.

      What
      is
      Regenerative
      Organic
      Agriculture?

Regenerative organic agriculture uses unique farming principles and practices designed to restore the soil ecosystem.

These practices include crop rotation, minimising soil disturbance and avoiding synthetic pesticides and herbicides. In this way, regenerative organic agriculture can contribute to preserving biodiversity, regulating the cycling of water and nutrients, and mitigating climate change by sequestering atmospheric CO2.

      Better
      for
      people
      as
      well
      as
      planet

As well as focusing on the health of soil ecosystems, Regenerative Organic Agriculture aims to support the needs of farmers, farmworkers and local communities.

Principles include fair wages and working conditions, democratic organisations that provide support for farmer co-ops and worker representation, and transparency and accountability including fair pricing and long-term contracts for farmers.
